Welcome all, the Casting Call section is for fellow WAR players that have discovered us and would like to potentially join our guild. Please take the time to completely read this section before posting your registration.
THE LAST LAUGH CHARTER
1) RP Expectations
Whenever we are on our WAR characters, guild chat is for roleplay. All guild members have access to officer chat (hit /o). This should be used for OOC ('out of character') conversation. When on our Vent channel, all in game conversation should try to be in character due to the social nature of Vent communications!
With The Last Laugh, the main focus for roleplay is character. Knowledge of the Warhammer universe is not nearly as important as being able to hold a conversation. I myself am just learning about the storyline as a whole, so I certainly will not hold it against you.
When conceiving your character concept, think less in terms of definites. For example "My character would definitely do this" or "definitely say that". The best roleplay isn't about adherence to a set of guidelines, self imposed or otherwise. It's about approaching each conversation and situation individually. This way, you can avoid static roleplaying and emerge as a multi-faceted personality.
The number one rule, and only, of roleplaying with The Last Laugh is respect other's boundaries. Some people do not enjoy graphic roleplay, concerning violence or other mature topics. Some roleplay to escape a world that is full of such things and want a more light hearted experience. Do not personally attack other players as a means to belittle them for any reason. If a player seems to be uncomfortable with an RP argument or situation e.g. breaks character suddenly, it's considered proper etiquette to break character with a private tell to the player to make sure everything is fine and apologize if needed. At the bare minimum, keep in mind that you should most likely not roleplay with that person in the same nature again. Above all, anytime you feel like your personal boundaries are being overstepped, let the player know (in a non public fashion if possible). If they continue, inform a guild officer and ignore them if you wish. I hold a zero tolerance policy on in game drama, intentionally ruining someone else's game experience, and other HSH ("high school horseshit"). Making this guild, playing this game...it's all because it is fun to us. Once it isn't because of a player, he/she will have nothing to do with The Last Laugh.
2) Guild Expectations
We are all about fun. Period. With that said, The Last Laugh is a medium RP guild with a focus on RvR. When our numbers become more, we will also begin scheduling guild raids on keeps and other battlefield objectives.
The main idea of the Last Laugh is that this war is a slaughter on both sides and has no end in sight. BUT WHO CARES? The world is tough, you just have to be tougher. Keep everything in perspective and try to see the funny side. Otherwise, you'll end up focusing on that which does not matter. Why fight to be alive if you're not going to live? Kill em all, be a hero, and live life to the fullest.
The way The Last Laugh is explained in keeping with the Warhammer universe lore is that it is that it started not as a regiment, but rather a social club for the Templar Order of Knights who needed a place to relax with good friends and entertainment after the work day was done. The Last Laugh was fronted by Sister Dellamore and Brother Dellamorte Francesco, witch hunters for The Order of Sigmar who were looking for a way to relieve stress after a day of putting the Chaos touched to the pyres. The Last Laugh offered what they advertised as "knightly entertainment", with various members of the Templar Order booked to perform poetry, music, story telling, and even comedy based on their travels and experiences.
Alas, after the full scale war broke out and the Alliance between the Empire, High Elves, and Dwarves was created, The Last Laugh went under as the demands of duty called. However, the fond memories of The Last Laugh had created very strong attachments to the club and namesake and others began to dye their armor the traditional colors of The Last Laugh in order to spot other former patrons. Upon sight, they would recognize one another and smile, being reminded of the good times back home, even as they were out in foreign lands. Indeed, many could sit around a war camp's fire and recall memorable performances or make the best impression of Dellamore's adopted low born Bretonnian accent, despite the fact she was Empire born and bred.
We do not expect you to be completely devoted to the game, or even the best player. What we are looking for is mature people that love to RP and participate in guild activities whenever possible. In the same token, we are not looking for bullies, powermongers, or those that love drama. If you have an issue, make sure to post it in "The Rehearsal Space". If you would prefer to keep your issue private, message myself or one of your fellow guild leads.
-Whenever you register for the forum, if you board name is not the same as your main toon's name, be sure to put your toon's name under your personal quote section of your profile.
-Guild colors are warlock purple and brazen brass for guild members. This can be done in any order, though I suggest choosing one color to be your chest, with the other color being the rest of your gear (cape, gloves, boots, belt, hat, etc.). I am not going to be a complete nazi about this, but it shows an additional degree of willingness to participate in the guild and is appreciated. The idea is that we'll look so ridiculous that it throws them off. They can't take us seriously. And underestimating your enemy is a mistake most don't have the luxury to repeat. I have had many players tell me that just based on our guild name, some Destruction players have stopped to emote a laugh, only to give us a tactical advantage, so it does work.
-We currently have a guild tax of 5%. I believe this to be completely fair and will be hard pressed to lower this amount. I urge for players to tithe to the guild if they wish to, and expect for guild leads to tithe at least an additional 5% (for a total of 10% tax). If any guild members have any qualms, feel free to post in "The Rehearsal Space". Guild leads should post under "The Curtain Call".
-Guild auctions are no longer in use and therefore should be ignored.
Other guild aspects and features yet to be unlocked will be amended here when they become available.
3) Guild Titles and Expectations
There are currently four ranks in The Last Laugh.
Regardless of which one you are, you are expected to leave a post in "The Fourth Wall" if you expect to leave the game for more than two weeks.
- Unregistered
The unregistered has not registered with the boards. Starting on 10/20/08, all members of the "Unregistered" rank will be removed from the guild. After this date, all new members are required to register with the forum within two weeks of joining The Last Laugh. This is important because it gets leads to read about new members that are potentially going to ask them questions concerning their role in a Last Laugh guild group, or at the very least, help leads learn everyone's name and personality. It also helps the guild grow as a whole and creates solidarity. Unregistered members may not view or attain any items from the guild vault.
- Laugher
The Laugher has been registered with the forum and has been involved with the guild, either through helping fellow members with quests, RvR, forum participation, in game or forum roleplay. Guild members are asked to currently tithe at least 5% in addition to the current 5% guild tax. Guild members are also asked to adhere to the guild color guidelines of red and gold, as explained above. Guild members may view items in guild vault one, but not withdraw any without sending a request in game to their guild lead or the guildmaster. Players may also make requests in the sticky thread "Vault Requisitions" in the IC forum, "The Punch Line".
- Jester Captain
The Jester Captain is known by everyone in the guild. Either they have grouped with you, roleplayed with you, or been helpful when you had questions. They offer insight or opinions concerning guild policies and procedures, but do not have the final say. Jester Captains are asked to currently tithe at least 10% in addition to the current 5% guild tax. They are also expected to wear the guild colors of purple and gold, as explained above. JC's may view items in guild vault one and two, as well as withdraw them from vault one, but not without sending a request in game to their guild lead or the guildmaster. Players may also make requests in the sticky thread "Vault Requisitions" in the IC forum, "The Punch Line".
- Equipster
Equipsters are virtually identical to Jester Captains in every way, except that they carry our standards into battle when we do full group RvR or PvE. The first standard is purchased with guild funds for the new Equipster, but all subsequent standards are not reimbursable by guild funds unless an event occurs deemed so (by a guild lead or the guildmaster).
Note: Jester Captains or the Lead Laugher may be a standard bearer without a change to their title.
The following is the current Equipsters:
- Witch Hunter Dellamore Francesco
- Swordmaster Geese Gossamerwing
- Witch Hunter Willem Magistratus
- Bright Wizard Pyrozet Incendio
- Lead Laugher
The Lead Laugher is the head of the guild. The Lead Laugher institutes and designs new policies and procedures, as well as active participation in roleplay, either in game or forum based. Whenever a player has a question concerning their class or their role, the Lead Laugher should try his best to answer that question. The Lead Laugher also has the ability to organize events on the guild calendar and should make use of it, if possible, at least once every two weeks. If the Lead Laugher organizes an impromptu group with the guild or allied members, it should be noted on the calendar and/or written about in "The Revue Review" or wherever it belongs.
Further responsibilities will be discussed as more guild options become unlocked
4) Registration Form
The following should be posted by yourself in this board:
1) Toon Name, Race & Class
2) Toon Tradeskills (with current level)
3) Character goals and/or synopsis
4) How did you hear about The Last Laugh?
